7 Obvious Benefits of Hypnosis

Many people ask me why they should let someone hypnotize them. It’s a question that I find I never answer quite the same way twice. There are so many benefits that generally, I end up tailoring my answer to what I know of the person I’m talking to. So today, we’re going to talk about some of the general benefits of hypnosis as well as some studies demonstrating how it helps with a variety of ailments.

  1. Hypnosis is incredibly relaxing

Do you suffer from stress or anxiety? Well hypnosis can help you relax. It’s fairly well established at this point that relaxation helps with a variety of problems including stress, anxiety, and depression.  Clients report that after coming out of trance they feel relaxed and refreshed, ready to continue about their day.

  • Hypnosis can help improve deep sleep.

Many of the early studies on hypnosis and sleep are anecdotal. But in a recent study, Swiss researchers were able to measure its effects by monitoring brain activity in a group of healthy, young women as they took a 90-minute nap after listening to a hypnotic suggestion tape. The women who were deemed the most susceptible to hypnosis spent 80 percent more time in slow-wave sleep (the deep, restorative phase of our shut-eye) after listening to the hypnosis tape than they did after listening to a neutral spoken text. Given the side effects of many sleep inducing drugs the researchers determined that this could be far better for patients with sleep problems as well as for older adults.

Results of one study showed that subjects showed improvement after 12 weekly hypnosis sessions. 81 percent of those same subjects reported that they continued to feel better up to six or seven years later.

The linked study showed a 74% reduction in hot flash severity.

  • Weight Loss

If you’re eating healthy and exercising but still not losing weight, hypnosis can make a difference. Studies show that when people add hypnotherapy to their diet and exercise plan, they lost weight faster than others. We know that weight loss beings in the mind as we fight to overcome our urges for certain foods. The more we can control our thoughts and behaviors, we improve our results. Clinical hypnosis isn’t a replacement for a healthy diet or exercise regime, however. You must use it along with a healthy lifestyle to see the results.

  • Anxiety & Phobias

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in America. Anxiety can be debilitating, so finding a way to ease the symptoms is essential to living a fulfilling life.  Studies have shown that hypnosis causes fear dissipate. It will help you let go of thoughts and feelings that increase your anxiety symptoms. In addition, hypnosis stimulates your ability to naturally relax by lowering your blood pressure, slowing your breathing, and promoting an overall sense of well-being.

Sometimes we don’t know the source of our anxiety. Hypnosis can help with that, making it easier for you to overcome. The same is true for phobias as they both stem from fear.

  • Depression

Depression can be debilitating, leaving you feeling helpless or lonely. Feeling like its impossible to feel happy. Hypnosis can help you control and gain control over these feelings. Even to change them. It can help you eliminate negative energy in your body, and it can change your mindset. Through hypnosis you can determine the cause of your depression allowing you to work through the underlying issues. You will learn to live in the moment rather than ruminating about the past or worrying about the future
